Accessibility Research Project

Interested in learning what methods would help diminish stereotypes against people with disabilities, I conducted my own research project titled “Developing strong systems of Advocacy to Deconstruct Stereotypes against People with disabilities,” for my RCAH 112 class. I served as the manager and organizer of the project, which involved contacting Michigan State University’s Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD). Within MSU’s RCPD, I found and met with candidates to interview, gathered and analyzed data from those interviews, and then wrote a research paper describing my data and stating a conclusion for the project. My research found that cultures and environments in which advocacy toward those with disabilities is present are the environments in which stereotypes can begin to be deconstructed.
